Archaeology in the sandbox
An excavation to participate in at the booth of the museum offers an exciting insight into the work of archaeologists. In the archaeology sandbox, children can search for the secrets of the past with a shovel, trowel and sieve. Hidden bones and broken pottery pieces are waiting to be discovered and uncovered. In the “lost property office”, the little researchers can then process and analyze the discovered finds. Educators of the museum supervise the action and support the children by word and deed. And while the little ones are tracking the early history of humanity, their parents can look around undisturbed on the largest mineral fair in northern Europe.
The museum offers archaeological literature and replicas at its booth.
By the way, scientists of the museum will also be available at the “minerals 2018 hamburg” on the exhibition grounds to advise visitors who would like to have their own archaeological finds examined.
