Digital Domplatz: experience archaeology and city history in multimedia
The tour starts at one of Hamburg’s most important monuments, the Bischofsturm (“bishop’s tower”). The ring-shaped tower foundation from the 12th century is the oldest surviving stone building in Hamburg’s old town. Over the last two years, the SmartSquare project has created cultural multimedia mediation services here and on the Domplatz.
For the 16th Hamburg Night of the Churches on 14th September 2019 more than 120 churches and other venues open their gates. The Archaeological Museum Hamburg is also part of this year’s event and will be offering various guided tours and a lecture on this day to illuminate church and formerly ecclesiastical locations for the public also from an archaeological perspective.
