Gladiators – Heroes of the Colosseum

The new special exhibition “Gladiators – Heroes of the Colosseum” at the Archaeological Museum Hamburg gives an exciting insight into the world of Roman battle arenas and their heroes. From September 16, 2020 to February 28, 2021, the exhibition will show original Roman finds and spectacular reconstructions. Life-size figures, films and interactive stations allow the heroes of the Roman Empire to awaken to new life with tand also convey surprising things: Who were the fighters, what happened behind the scenes in the arena and what role did women play in the gladiatorial games? Background information on the Roman Empire and its army round off this exhibition.

In the exhibition, visitors not only meet life-size gladiator figures in authentic combat gear, they can even try the equipment on themselves.

 

The special exhibition „Gladiators – Heroes of the Colosseum“ is a cooperation with „museum exhibition network – expona“.
