“I am in Harburg, because … “: Using this motto, citizens can document why they are “Harburger” and what led them to Harburg, the event running from September to December 2018 in the Archaeological Museum Hamburg and City Museum Harburg.

Harburg – that means living together in diversity. Many people from over 150 nations have long since found their place in society in Harburg. People come to Harburg for different reasons: the search for a job, the hope of being received as a refugee, love or simply the chance of birth lead them here and turned them into Harburgers.

Tell us your personal story!

Under the motto “I am in Harburg, because …” interested visitors can tell their personal story from September 25th to December 30th 2018 in the Archaeological Museum Hamburg and City Museum Harburg. The contributions can be written down in the museum at a hands-on station and submitted. The stories are exhibited and archived in the museum as part of the project and published on the online media of the museum and the district office Harburg.

The “I am in Harburg, because …” interactive station is open at the museum from 10 am to 5 pm, Tuesdays through Sundays. On special days of action, such as the Interkulturelle Woche from September 25th to 30th 2018 or the Harburger Kulturtag, November 4th 2018, the experiences and migration backgrounds can also be documented on maps in the migration archive. In addition, visitors to the archaeological exhibition will learn a great deal about the exciting world of archaeology and the traces that the various migratory events in human history have left in northern Germany.

The project is funded by the Local Partnerships Harburg of the district office.

The aim is to promote participation, strengthen cohesion and seize opportunities, so that Harburg remains a lively and diverse district in which all live together.
