Please note that due to the COVID 19 pandemic, special rules of conduct apply to your visit: Responsible interaction requires consistent adherence to the applicable hygiene measures. Therefore, we ask you to strictly adhere to the currently prescribed rules in order to protect yourself, other guests and the museum team.



Events are again taking place in the museum – naturally in compliance with all applicable hygiene and distance measures. Participation in most events is currently only possible after prior registration. Public guided tours, workshops and events can be found in our event calendar. For these, please register via the museum (Tel. +49 40 42871 2497).

Program bookings for groups are also possible, but the offer and the number of participants is still limited. The currently bookable group offers can be found here. Registration is handled by the Museumsdienst Hamburg. Please note that when participating in workshops, hands must be thoroughly disinfected before the start of the event, as well as during and after the event.


Current regulations for visiting the museum


1.    If you are feeling ill or feverish, we ask that you refrain from visiting the museum for everyone’s protection.


2.   Wearing a medical or FFP-2 mask is mandatory throughout the exhibition visit.


3.   Please understand that we are only allowed to let a limited number of visitors into the houses at any one time.


4.   A contact data entry is required for the visit. This can be done on site via the Luca app or analog via a form.


5.    If there is a wait despite visitor control, please adhere to the safety distances marked on the floor.


6.    Please approach the cashier one at a time and follow the instructions of our staff.


7.    We ask you to pay without cash if possible.


8.    The lockers and checkrooms can be used on your own responsibility, the number of lockers is limited.


9.    Please keep the required safety distance of at least 1.5 meters from other people inside the exhibition rooms, please move around the rooms carefully.


10.    We recommend that you disinfect your hands before and after visiting the exhibition. Surfaces and objects in the exhibitions are regularly disinfected by our team.


11.    Adherence to the listed regulations is a prerequisite for entering the museum.
